"Waiting for the Dawn" es el primer disco en solitario del cantante de Stratovarius, Timo Kotipelto. Es un disco de power metal con menos tintes progresivos que Stratovarius. Kotipelto se ha rodeado de un conjunto de estrellas invitadas donde destacan: Gas, el batería de H.I.M., Mikko Harkin, teclista de Sonata Arctica, Jari Kainulainen, bajista de Stratovarius, Michael Romeo, guitarrista de Symphony X y Roland Grapow, que hasta hace poco fue guitarrista de Helloween, lo que da plenas garantías de la calidad técnica del álbum.
